My DL expring in Sept. filed for 10th year extenison, I live in NY.
NY DL have 2 dates, One in Top with RED Bold letters its called Temp Visa Date and at botton DL exprie date. I have contacted in DMV office. They said I can drive using bottom Exprie date which is exprie in 2010(mine) ,But I cant use the DL as ID if Temp VISA expire on DL.Unless I renew it with approved H1B visa date.So I have to Carry Passport ,recepit copy and Employer lettter with all time just as proof if cop caught me.

Guys, I have thrown out my ideas and you can take what suits you from it. As someone mentioned nothing is illegal in it. If you find something, please explain what and why.
My conservative estimate was 100K people pulling 50K$ out..that would be 5 billions...if more comes out even better
Fight for legislation?? Does anyone has any hopes on it still? You would get piecemeal concessions here and there..but the Indian EB immigration community as a whole gets nothing good out of it...2 year EAD, 5 yr EAD..just to wipe the tears...come on guys think out of the box.
You argue it is not discrimination but it is law. I say the law is discriminatory and nobody wants to change it (remember the horses discussion instead of EB immigration discussion in senate), do you need any better example than this?
Anyways, I leave it to your own judgement..and I am going ahead with my plans...I am not planning to leave the country anytime soon so I am not yet into the drastic measures I mentioned, but I sure have started the funds transfer to Indian banks, pulling out of mortgage application and moving out of US equities markets. Also, I am reducing the amount of money I pump into US economy which is currently 5K per month to ~3-3.5K per month. If it makes any difference I am making ~400K a yr from my job and other investments...
I appreciate ur enthusiasm my friend...but just think about what you are pushing for....The immigrant community cannot send 5000 letters collectively, cannot get more than 100 people to donate every month...and u are hoping 100k people will walk the path u suggested in an IV post?? Lets not get too optimistic here...the reality is we are in a country that was started by immigrants, but is now self sufficient and now does not care about Immigration.....we can only wait and watch, may be try to rally behind some initiatives like CIR etc and make victory laps on reversal of a visa bulletin or 2 year EADs....But to get this immigration process fixed is a distant dream and will not happen unless Citizens feel the need of it or America goes back to the same stage where it cannot support itself without immigrants......we can hang on the to the last straw of hope, but the world goes by facts and not perception.
My post might seem pessimistic..but I will call it realistic....those who want to go back home, please go..but leave ur details with IV so they can use it as an example in their fight....Those who stay....there is nothiong to lose in this battle....so please help IV or the immigration community in whatever way u can.

If you are stuck at Atlanta PERM backlog center , please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
I know most of the people on this forum are not in this situation ..... but let's see how many can come out of this selfishness and help others by emailing / phoning DOL Atlanta to help other brothers who want to file AOS just like them...... First of all why do U wanna ask that? Its an employment based visa that ur GC is based on. So, ur employer shud ask that. Why are u asking IVans to do something which is not in their control??? Immigrants don't get to vote and may not have other rights such a welfare, social securicty etc. But USA as the greatest democracy on earth provides almost all of the rights to citizens and foreigners alike. In fact you can complain to your local, state & federal lawmakers and they will help you in your problems.
And yes a foreigner has the right to complain about any govt. organization including USCIS if their processes are adversely effecting him or her. These are the basic principles of the US democracy.

With the current situation, I think it may take 2 to 3 months...
Probable longer for an RFE. Receipt notices are taking 6 weeks+. When do you think EAD will come out. It used to be 60-90 days. With quite a few EADs out in less than 60 days.
Any ideas

As someone else pointed out, if you don't drive will he/ she won't get a H1B?
This does not make sense.
I just renewed my DL in and BMV did not even ask for my visa/ passport validity and they issued me 5 years renewal (my visa expires in Oct 2008).
I can understand that based on your visa expiry date, BMV may issue only limited time DL.
I know each state has jurisdiction on these matters but there should be basically similar approach.

Has anyone done refinance from BOA on EAD / AOS (expired H1B & I-94)?
My current home loan is with BOA & I am trying to refinance with them, but they say we can't approve now because of status. I locked in rate in Sept. 2010 & now I am stuck as rates have gone up. After 4 months they have denied.
I don't know how to proceed further. They are not ready to give any letter & the lending policy. Any suggestions please......
I got my loan financed from BOA. I was putting 25% down on 550K home. They did not ask me even a single proof of my status before approving the loan . I am on EAD. Just a thought. May be you can increase the amount you are putting out of your pocket and may be they will approve. Again, just check this with them

1. Initial labor

2. EB3 I140 (NSC)
a. Filed - October 11 2006
b. Approved - April 6 2007
3. I485 (NSC)
a. Filed - July 19 2007
b. RFE - April 2009 (Birth Certificate related for me and Medical related for my wife)
4. Perm
a. Same company. By 2011, I was promoted multiple times and currently managing multiple projects. Every H1b that was approved after 2003 clearly showed the growth and the promotion on the job title and salary.
b. Filed - Feb 9 2011 (Progressive growth within the same company, Title: Project Director)
c. Approved - Feb 15 2011
5. EB2 I140 (TSC)
a. Filed - March 9 2011, Premium Processing
b. Approved - March 21 2011 (A# and Priority Date retained)

a. March 24 2011 - Created a SR requesting the process I485 using the new EB2 140

You make a good point. However, since I have mentioned both EB and FB in the article, I think it is appropriate to include that it can in fact take 20 years to get the GC. The Senate bill does have provisions to ameliorate both EB and FB backlogs, as far as I remember.

I checked 2007 return and it has only 100K asset. I am not sure we accumulated 350K since then. I think you got confused with revenue vs. cash on hand / asset.

CIS and DOS officials are meeting every week after July 07 fiasco. They have a better handle on the visa number utilization than they ever had in the past years. As a result they have max utilization of visa numbers and don't be surprised if DOS decides to move EB2 India and China a month or two back. Neither India EB2 nor China EB2 is going to move past Oct 2004 before Oct 08 bulletin.

This call was strictly for state chapter members of all states. IV core has been meeting DOS and USCIS regularly to find solution to the problems our members have been facing.
Pls take part in the call campaign and contribute funds to be able to find relief.
