Thanks. But I heard if they find something critically wrong on 485 form, they may reject it and return it in as long as 3 month! Why can't they just make sure the forms are OK and then start the name check?

Immigration lawmakers try to pick winners and losers. The problem is that just like a broken analog clock with its hands frozen in place, the timing is mostly wrong. Tough talk from the Senate Majority Leader. Some, including my good friend Tamar Jacoby, think this is a really bad idea. I'm not so sure. I think fear of losing the Hispanic vote for a generation or more and the sudden urgency of the situation created by the Arizona fiasco could make responsible Republicans at least seek to block a filibuster and allow for a majority vote (as seems likely with financial regulatory reform). But Tamar is right that we'll get a better bill if pro-business Republicans play a role since some of the overreaching protectionist efforts of the unions...

I had an H1 for about 3 years (2 different employers), and then was hired by an international organization. I gave up the H1 and got a G4 visa, which I still have. Over the last 3 years with a G4, my credentials have changed, and am due to get my masters degree in May 2008. If I were to move to a job requiring H1 when I get my masters, will the total number of years allowed for me to hold an H1 roll back to 6 years? I'm thinking that since the skills I had as an H1B visa holder before have changed now.

USCIS has announced that it is working on a rule to create an electronic registration system for H-1B employers subject to the annual cap. Employers would first register an application and be allocated an H-1B cap number and then would file the case. The idea is that employers would need to register to claim an H-1B cap number first and then if they are selected, they then would prepare and file the case. All,
I have my I140 approved under EB3 with the PD Aug'2003 with the employer A. Now I am planning to switch to employer B for filing Labor under EB2 category.
My question is Can I avail the PD i.e Aug'2003 got from the previous labor EB3 (i.s employer A) for the new EB2 labor with employer B.
My Exp: B.E + 8 Yrs of Progressive Exp.
Employer A:
labor : EB3 Approved PD AUG'2003
I140: Approved
Employer B:
labor: EB2 under process.
I would appreciate your reply, any attorneys pls.

I have applied for my I-485 in July 2007. A false DV case was filed against me by my ex-wife in January 2008 which was dismissed with prejudice in the court. I have all certified copies from court.
Now I got I-485 first interview letter from USCIS which is scheduled in Detroit.
Can I attend by myself or do I need to attend with a lawyer?
Could you guys advice me..
