From Public Policy Polling: Our poll of the Texas Governor's race this week is another data point indicating possible backlash for Republican candidates this fall in the wake of the Arizona immigration law. When we polled the race in Februrary Rick Perry led Bill White by 6 points. The race is tied now, and the movement since the previous poll has come completely with Hispanic voters. It has come to the attention of the Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) that due to a technical issue, a number of cases were inadvertently identified as pending PERM re-file applications and were withdrawn from the backlog. OFLC is working to rectify this situation immediately by identifying the affected cases, and reinstating them back to the appropriate processing status in proper order. This effort will be completed by November 30, 2006.
Although affected employers and their attorneys will NOT be receiving an additional notice of reinstatement, they may verify their case has been reinstated using the Public Disclosure System (PDS) starting December 1st. Since verification will be available online, employers and attorneys are requested not to contact the Backlog Elimination Centers regarding status.

For me it took 1.5 months. I visited the consulate to check the status. Typically you can check the status of your passport renewal from CGI mail room. They can tell you whether your passport is processed, mailed etc.
Unfortunately CGI Houston has very poor customer service. They won't answer your calls or reply to your emails.

Immigration Lawyers Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
On Aug. 13, 2010, President Obama signed into law Public Law 111-230, which requires the submission of an additional $2000 for certain H-1B petitions and $2250 for certain L-1 petitions. Those who are subject to the additional fees include petitioners who employ 50 or more U.S. employees and more than 50 percent of its U.S. employees are in H-1B or L status (including L-1A, L-1B and L-2). For example, ABC company has 60 employees and has 35 employees in H-1B and L-1 status. ABC Company would be required to pay the additional fee for all new H-1B and L-1 petition filings. Extension of status petitions are not subject to the additional fee. The new fees are effective immediately, applying to all petitions submitted on or after Aug. 14, 2010 through Sept. 20, 2014.

i-140 applied in Jan 2006, RFE received question was for company not self, i-140 withdrawn.
Reapplied for i140 in June 2006 under new company, RFE recived 1 week back.

Did anyone get their 140 approved from Vermont?
My 140 and 485 were filed late July 07 in Nebrasks and I got notices stating the 485 was transferred to Texas and 140 was being processed in Vermont.
The Vermont processing time for 140s has been stagnant at April 2006 for a long time.
Wondering if anyone has any updates on this.

Hi,
I was working on H1B till one month back, recetly I joined permanent position on EAD. I need to renew my wifes EAD. Though I dod not need it but for driving license they want some immigration document, so I am planning to e-file for my wife's EAD. I have couple of questions
1. There is question for Current Immigration status. I belive since I mobved to EAD my wif's status is AOS pending. But from the option I do not see any option near to that. What should be right choice. It is not a manadatory field can I leave it blank.
2. There is question for Provide information regarding eligibility status. What should i put there , I am thginking to keep AOS Pending.
3. Somebody told me that I can not e-file for my wife.
Gurus please suggest. I am waiting for your responses.

I had applied on July 19th to Nebraska. My I-140 was approved from TX.
Today I received transfer notice WAC...., mentioning that they have transferred my case to TX Service center.
The receipt date is of Sep 14th, Notice date of Sep 17th'2007.
Does it mean I lost the original filing receipt date of July 20th'2007.

Hi Guys,
My I-140 was processed at the Nebraska center, but my attorney sent the I-485 case to Texas Service center. Since my I-140 was filed at Nebraska, I was expecting my I-485 would be sent Nebraska also.

Opponents of Arizona's SB1070 immigration law scored another victory in the courts yesterday. In the case of Friendly House v. Whiting, the court overruled a motion to dismiss the case challenging the law. The judge noted that "Racial discrimination was a motivating factor for [S.B.] 1070�s enactment" which establishes a legitimate constitutional challenge to the law. While this is only the opening round in the case, it does suggest that the defenders of the law will have a tough time convincing the judge that the law is constitutional. 10-1061-447 -

I need help for my friend. My Friend's spouse on H4 started to work on EAD. She does not work (or if she gets laid off), will she automatically get her H4 status? If not, what does she need to do to get back on H4. Her husband is on H1.

Hi,
Im having my H1B and 140 approved with my current employer. Now I got into a situation where in I need to file a new H1B with a new employer through whom im working on a project.But once my H1B is approved, my new employer will dismiss/cancel the new H1b Filed, as they just need to show that they filed a H1B for me.
Will this be a problem for my current 140 and GC processing or my existing H1B?
Coz that Im not going to use my new H1B, I can still continue using my current I94 right!
Any issues if my new H1b gets rejectd or queried!
