Sens. Schumer and Hutchison have offered the Bridge amendment. It has a chance to pass, although the battle may be tough.
The amendment is "on the floor" and could be acted on this afternoon.

Something's going on in the Senate....recapture of unused visa is proposed as an amendment to labor and healthcare appopriations bill.....let's see what happens tomorrow...expect that it will be tackled tomorrow!

Landed here in November 2000. Started the GC process in 2004. Could've filed on EB2, but didn't care much when the employer insisted on filing under EB3 for whatever stupid reason. My PD is May 2004 (EB3). It wasn't making much difference then. But, now things are different and EB3 is totally screwed up.
Actually, I am not worried about the GC much, because I am not sure about my future plans. If I make a firm decision to stay, I might reapply in EB2. Life is worth a billion billion times more than the GC. So, let it take its own sweet time. Concentrate on your life and career, and SURELY HAVE A LOT OF FUN BECAUSE LIFE IS SHORT AND YOU LIVE ONLY ONCE.

Grim EAD situtation , Oh my god!

The calculations below is not to scare anyone but it may very well a reality. Based on the assumptions below, some people may have to wait up to 20 months to get a EAD card: Ouch!

A kind request - can someone remove this kinda thread with heavy calculation from our senior member - Sorry to say but this is definitely not a good time to start this kinda discussion especially that we are filling our docs and where so many of us are stuck in our employers dealing with us who has not filled our EAD/AP.

I'm just waiting for them to start working on the 2002 cases now, since everyone who applied later already got their greencards it seems. :(
I think it is sooo unfair that someone who applied in 2005 already got a green card and taking the visa numbers when others have waited 3 or 4 more years(!) extra have to wait even longer. That is something for IV to fight for...

Well, I too had a Infopass last week to check on a Soft LUD on my I-140, I heard slightly different story, they did not say adjudicating the EB application, but Process the EB application, which I guess what they were saying is pre-adjudicating the cases, in the last few weeks with lot of cases being transferred (both EB2/EB3) to different offices, pre-adjudicating the cases makes sense....but hey, we are talking about USCIS here, we never know, whatever you heard could be true too......
One piece of information that made me happy reading your comment was "a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff", this is good news.....but wondering what does legal/illegal mean to USCIS anyway......and how does it help us???

My Labor was certified this week from PBEC. My PD is Mar '05. Is Premium filing for I-141 advised?
If you are in EB2, then might as well go for PP for the I-140. Regular at Nebraska is taking 8 months. Given the way dates move erratically, if you get current in the next couple of months (I hope you do, mine is the same PD) you wont have I-140 to worry about, you'll be all set.

Now, when you are done with it , please help IV to ensure that the current bill has enough amendments to make our future secure.
If you are one of those who can keep working on your 140/485 , worry about the bill and help IV all together in a balanced way, no need to follow the step by step process :-)
Things happen - they can always happen - they can be good - they can be bad - but Life Goes On.... so you do what you need to do for your current processing and whatever plans you have for future but just be aware that things can always change. With this July VB fiasco, thousands of people with the recent priority dates will be able to apply alongside the applicants with much older priority dates and depending on how the USCIS issues the receipt notices or how fast their lawyers can file, some with older priority dates will fall behind in terms of receiving the receipt dates.
Note: Even a few days' difference in receipt dates could matter due to the quota when thousands apply in the same month
So the question on the table is:

filed LC in 2003 thinking it would be useful to stay on H1 as long as possible!! and the rest is on my profile..
I wonder if anybody thinks it makes sense to create a law which simply says after 15 (or some X years) of legal presence in the US you will be given a GC no matter the back ground! In that way we know exactly where the deadline is irrespective of some government agency's whim.
