I filed the AP on July 25 and receipt date is Aug 26. Still didn't get the AP. Few of my friends applied after me got AP already. Don't know what is going on

I think the impetus required by IV will take time. Just 2 years ago, most of us got EADs/APs for themselves. It'll take time for the frustration to build up in those people who missed the boat. Their numbers are not many. It'll be a while before their numbers grow and they demand some kind of similar action from the US government.

The impact to companies like Infy etc is ~5-10MM
If someone look at their last year Balance sheet, They spent appx 16MM on visas, now assuming H1 cost came to ~10MM (these companies do lot of business elsewhere )
that would translate to ~ 2500 filings (including extn, new etc)
this additional $2000 would result in additional $5MM cost if they decide to continue filing 2500
This would not be too huge to make a dent on these companies. yes they may increase their billing to client by $2-5
So who is ultimately paying it is the American companies who use offshoring companies.

I do not think CIS has that much smartness in them. Different sections seem to go about the motions on their own schedule. They seem to be an uncoordinated bunch so far.
How do you explain push for EAD approvals before June 30th? ppl got approvals in matter of days (in most cases less then 20 days)

Hi my son is going to turn 21 on June 6th, we had applied for EB3 labor certificate on in July and the priority date is july 19, 2005. The I-140 was applied and approved in a month, therefore he will turn 21 next month on the 6th because the subtraction of one month from his age due to delay by USCIS in processing the I-140. My question is that is there any sort of help for EB retrogression for the children affected, and may get aged-out. As well as any other way that my son can apply for his I-485.

No is the simple answer. If the new legislation is enacted his choices are even fewer they will remove the family based category in which you could have applied for him once you get a green card. The future is very bleak for aged out children of EB immigrants. My son is one of these children and we have no answer. Myself and others on this site have asked that IV mention such children in their efforts but to date this has not happened. It is retrogression and labor backlogs which created this so I consider it a fundamental part of the retrogression issue.
Others reading this who are waiting for their priority date to become current should consider this may be going to happen to them if things are not changed and your family may join the thousands of us already in this situation.
For those of you continually pushing for donations having a son in college on an F1 makes it impossible for me to donate since the tuition fees are astronomical but it is the only way I can keep him in the United States legally. Although I am beginning to think I should have allowed his visa to lapse then he could have benefitted from the DREAM act.

There may not be rights, but certainly immigrants can request law makers to deal with a dysfunctional organization like USCIS. And USCIS can be dragged to court via WOM and most of the time judges understand the immigrant situation and serve justice.

I am of the opinion that the dates might retrogress to somewhere in 2005 June as the worst case (by Oct-Nov), because the 05 numbers should really be low to start with due to PERM issues. Again this is just my educated guess.

All these are good for chit chat any way. If we had the clout to implement laws that were based on figments of our imaginations, we probably would not be in line for a green card. Nothing wrong with ideas, except the potential for implementation of the amendment needs to go through IV core team and then sent across to any senators or the USCIS. We don�t want to look foolish be ridiculed for visionary ideas that will not see the light of the day.

I received good news on June 1, 2007 that my I-140 is approved. It was received by USCIS on May 22, 2007. Then later that day I saw the new immigration bill. If this very unreasonable bill (EB backlog) will be passed the wasting of all the money, time, stress, anxiety and hope towards the GC procedure will make the whole thing look like a bitter joke. This is beyong my wildest imagination on how bad things can go since we are all hard-working and law-abiding legal immigrants. Is it a punishment for being a good member of society?
I'm praying that it will not be given any consideration by those who have powers.

It makes me laugh. Everyone screams and jumps up and down that they can't be part of a 750,000 person flood to USCIS.
And then they get that right.

I think we will see a renewed activity on IV forums in 2009. I still believe visa recapture bill like HR5882 has a good chance of getting passed. It may not get passed in this congress considering how few working days are left and presidential elections in November. But in 2009 the bill should gain new momentum with new congress and new president in office.
Also, by that time EB2 dates will be again retrogressed and those impatiently waiting for their approvals today will be back to support new action items. Please don't take this as spiteful wish against EB2, I'm EB2 myself! Just that I don't think everyone who is current now will get their GC before October 2008. For once I would be overjoyed if I'm wrong on this one :)
True, once the people realize that they are close to GC they forget all tasks and move on to the other forums (R2I or USC or whatever) there are very few who actually stay on and help add this to the fact that most of the EB3-I's got fed up with the nonsense going on (most were only looking for a sounding board to voice their dismay, instead they were reminded of the caste system). So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them. Each EB should talk to his/her HR and ask them to write a letter to their congressman/Senator it will have a bigger impact.
