Hi all .. I am not writing this post to disagree with any one on any thing. I am very respectful of the members who participate this forum and write their suggestions/comments/ideas... Specially when I know people who are facing the same problem but do not make any efforts to solve it or join IV.
In the same lines .. my opinion , we probably need more followers and implementers who can direct IV core suggested plans.
Actively participating the Forum and visiting the web site regulary is one of the actions called for from Pappu (IV Core), you are all doing, I did that. There are other action items that need be implemented by who ever has ability, time and can direct others.
BOTTOM LINE, YOU FOLKS BRING UP INTERESTING IDEAS AND DEBATE TO THE FORUM .. PLEASE KEEP IT UP.

Funds are really needed but another important thing is to leverage the momentum obtained due to CIR and more recently July Visa fiasco.
I think iV should aggressively focus on recapture of visas, 1 visa per family(Hillary Clinton already supports us on this and we can rope in Zoe loe****
who supported us now) and also removing country based limit.
Momentum is very important and now is the time to restart and I m sure funds ll flow. Removing country based quota is the easiest one to target first.

Please update us on this thread when you receive the physical notice and let us know if the receipt date was Jun15th or something else. That will give us some vital information abt what the defintion of receipt date is.

My application was sent on June, 14th and delivered on June 15th (I have the FedEx tracking info and signature page confirming 6/15).
The case status online based on receipt number (obtained by calling them a few times until I got lucky) says:
"On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
Not sure if the online status is referring to the receipt date or the notice date when it says "On July 11, 2007, we received" when, in fact, they received it on June 15th!!

Thank you! I have sent them my I-140 and 485 and also past and present EADs to show that this is something that needs to be renewed every 2 years.

With the current situation, I think it may take 2 to 3 months...
Probable longer for an RFE. Receipt notices are taking 6 weeks+. When do you think EAD will come out. It used to be 60-90 days. With quite a few EADs out in less than 60 days.

So far as locating old PDs are concerned, it USCIS knows it exists and if there is willinglness, they can dig it out from anywhere.
On the other hand , if this not fixed then even if there are 200K extra visas, the sufferings will persist.

It is also known/unknown that USCIS simply does not have a system in place to locate files with old PDs - constant changes to system may have resulted in poor record keeping. I do agree that this issue has to be brought to limelight.
I personally feel that any effort must be effective and not a half hearted effort - what I am trying to say is opening a thread and running 10 pages of messages and doing nothing? Does that work for us? Can that be effective?

I think I have been very lucky so far. I don't think USCIS processes based on anything concrete, I think it's a little random. Or maybe I am just lucky.
I applied for PERM in Sep 2006 - EB3 - India.
I got approved for PERM in Mar 2007.
I applied for I-140 and I-485 concurrently in Jun 2007.
I-140 got approved July 20, 2007 and on July 23, 2007 I received all 4 receipts for I-140, I-485, EAD and AP. So my approval came before my receipt. I live in California so everything went to Nebraksa.
Lawyers emailed saying they also received the EAD card yesterday July 23, 2007.
Now I have to wait for only AP and Adjustment. And I still have 5 years left on my H1-B (2 years on this visa and then another extension).
So I say, anything is possible. I wake up every morning and pray to USCIS because they made my life better :) :) :)

Think NSC needs to wake up about this AP delays. Lots of travel plans cancelled or moved to later dates to deal with this inordinate delays. Is it time for another flower campaign?
