I received my EAD today, but my I-140/I-485 are pending. Is the EAD of any use right now? I think I have to wait for the I-140 to be approved before changing jobs, right?

F1 to H1..

My H1 is still pending..RFE on Oct 1st and employer replied..but staus is still same saying RFE sent..case on hold..

can I go for OPT Extension now as my current OPT dint end yet??

Do I need to work in this current OPT to be qualified for OPT Extension or is it sufficient if I have an offer from my employer and he is E-verified??

Looks like some of you got approval for OPT extension..so please help me by posting how you applied..

Let me know of legal stay during these times..

I know this is really stupid but I can't seem to find the answer to this one:

- I am doing a paper filing of 1040. Do I need to send 1040 as a two sided print out or single sided printouts?

The CA 540 specifically says single sided printouts but am not able to find this information for 1040.

The big news today was Senator Reid now backtracking and promising climate change legislation before immigration reform. But in a seeming effort to show the Democrats are close to ready to go on immigration reform, Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez began circulating a detailed outline of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that appears to exclude Senator Graham. My current H1 is valid for 8 more months and I will have 1 more year after that to finish my initial 6 years, that gives me about 1 year 8 months before I exhaust the 6 year limit.

My question is if I change jobs and an H1 transfer is requested right now....will the transferrred H1 be valid for only 8 months ? or will I get a new I797 with 20 months validity? Help if some one knowledgeable about the issue would comment

Hi,
I have I-140 approved(ABC company) and have 5 months left in my first 6 year cycle. I was laid off from the job. A New employer XYZ applied for my H1B extension based on I-140 approval and got approved for 3 years.But I was unable to join
XYZ due to family situation and moved back to India.

Questions:

1. Can a new employer apply for H1B extension based on my I-140 approval even though I am not in USA.? My I-140 has not been revoked or cancelled.

or

2.Can I claim the remaining time on my H1B approval(based on I-140) with company XYZ ?I have copy of the H1B approval but not sure if it has been revoked.

Please advice.

To get SSN, you need to go to SSA office and apply. It will take 2-4 weeks to get the card in mail. You think it is automatic to get after entry.
Can anybody shed some light on this ? Would really appreciate it.
